Who We Are:
We are a Volunteer based Gift Shop located in the heart of the University Of Alberta Hospital. Our business under the leadership of our Store Manager contributes financially to the Friends of University Hospital organization. These financial contributions allow us to operate our non-profit organization, support our programs and fulfill our mission: A hospital experience that is one of exemplary healing, caring and compassion!
What Is This Position About?
The Gift Shop Supervisor ensures the day-to-day operations of the Friends Gift Shop are run in such a manner so that all who enter the Gift Shop are greeted and welcomed into our retail environment. This environment will be complimented by the compliance of all Health and Safety requirements as well as standard practices in maintenance, cleanliness and presentation of product.
The Supervisor will supervise Volunteers throughout their shift to ensure all customers receive customer service excellence. The Supervisor will work with the Volunteers on a daily basis and as needed will coach when there is an opportunity to do so. In some cases they will act as additional support on sales floor or point of sale as required. The Supervisor will foster and ensure a positive working environment is maintained.
Under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager and Assistant Manager, the Supervisor team will work towards sales increases, gross profit and marketing of products within the Gift Shop. This will come in the form of: product selection, ordering and placement. Pricing and monitoring.
Minimum of two years experience in retail, sales and customer service.
Attention to detail
Experience in maintaining Inventory levels
Loss Prevention experience and procedures
Time Management and planning for deadlines
Strong communication skills. I.e., Written and Spoken.
Customer First Mindset
Computer skills. i.e., Windows and POS systems
Possess a strong sense of confidentiality
Have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work independently or as part of the team
Be able to complete work assignments, organize and prioritize while adapting to interruptions
Use good judgment and apply initiative
Demonstrate a commitment to customer relations and hospitality by being caring and courteous to patients, families and visitors.
Have a high level of honesty and integrity and be able to follow directions and guidelines
