RUNS UNTIL DECEMBER 6, 2020

Due to COVID-19, the University of Alberta Hospital is currently allowing designated family/support persons into the hospital. For more information, please visit their website here.

This exhibition features the art of ten artists with Developmental Disabilities who are all supported in their art making by being members of the collective at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts.

The exhibition is the result of a four-month exploration of art making based on the practice of local designer Amanda Schutz. Through seeing Amanda’s exhibition and working with her over several weeks the artists were challenged to try some new materials and ways of making things. All of the artists had the opportunity to work on several pieces and emulate Amanda’s practice. Inspired by botanical illustration they then worked with Amanda to explore and create several small individual soft sculptures, and a final, collaborative piece.

The participating artists are:

Aaron Harvey, Marla Petecki, Gordon Heard, Desiree Dick, Uli Rossier, Aminah Pirani , Boyd Dymchuck, Grace Willard, Leona Clawson, Michael Mattias
