Today we’re launching a new program in the hospital – Staff Picks! We are inviting U of A Hospital staff members to select their favourite artwork in the UAH Art Collection and share thoughts about why they connect with it. The artwork will be displayed across from McMullen Gallery, on our web site, and shared via Instagram!
Our very first Staff Pick is by The Friends’ Executive Director, Tyler Sherard. Tyler’s favourite piece is Hudson Wong’s oil on canvas titled, The Logician, from 1984.
“I feel grounded when I view this piece. The colours are earthy and soothing, and the simple geometric focal point feels sensible and calming amidst chaos. It reminds me of being near the ocean, and the sensation of being faced with something vast and almost infinite. For me The Logician represents the power of thought to transform one’s circumstances or surroundings. The subject is contemplating the simple object in their hands and considering its potential.”
